IGNOU MPhil Admission 2025: Currently, IGNOU does not offer MPhil course, it has been discontinued. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers MPhil degrees across various fields, including Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Commerce, Chemistry, Social Work, Economics, etc. The duration of the MPhil course is a minimum of 2 years to a maximum of 4 years. For the upcoming academic session, the university will start admission on 30 October 2025, with the deadline to submit the application form on 25 November 2025. 

Students who want to take admission in MPhil (Master of Philosophy) at IGNOU must have completed at least a Master’s degree in the relevant subject. Applications can be submitted online via the official website of the university. MPhil application fee is INR 1,000, and the total course fee is INR 12,600. The MPhil syllabus consists of coursework and research work. The MPhil course gives a basic understanding of conducting research in a particular subject and prepares students to pursue a PhD.

The university will start IGNOU MPhil admissions on 30 October 2025. Students who want to take admission in the MPhil course must have completed their master’s degree in the concerned subject. The application fee for the MPhil is INR 1000, which is a non non-refundable. The students also have to pay the course fee of INR 12,600. Students can apply through the official website of the university before the last date of 25 November 2025.

Students who have qualified UGC NET/JRF and CSIR NET/JRF get weightage in admission to the MPhil course. IGNOU MPhil course duration is 2 years, but students who are not able to complete the course within the stipulated duration can complete the course in a maximum of 4 years.

IGNOU MPhil Application Form 2025

IGNOU will release the MPhil. application form for the 2025–2026 academic year. Applicants willing to pursue an MPhil from IGNOU can complete the application form before the deadline of 25 November 2025. A minimum of a Master’s degree is required to take admission in the course. 

The university also accepts the CSIR NET/JRF or UGC NET/JRF exams to select students. At the time of filling the application, applicants must provide a valid ID, educational documents, a passport-sized photo, a signature, proof of date of birth, a category certificate (if applicable), and a Credit card/Debit card, UPI, or Netbanking to pay the application fee of INR 1,000.

IGNOU offers an MPhil degree in several areas, including Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Commerce, Chemistry, Social Work, Economics, etc. Interested students must possess at least a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline, and the university also considers entrance exams like UGC NET/JRF or CSIR NET/JRF exam conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). Candidates who are SC, ST, OBC, or EWS are granted a 5% relaxation in marks by the university.

Coursework: Part 1 consists of coursework in which students have to study theoretical subjects that include qualitative and quantitative research methodology, discipline-specific subjects, etc. 

Research work: Part II includes dissertation work/research work related to a particular area of study.
